The tumblr of Madeleine Rosca. I create comics.
Another photo from Kinokuniya’s Free Comic Book Day - dude, you should really get a specialist to look at that…
At Kinokuniya today - trying to act tough alongside Captain America, but I look like I’m about to burst into tears, lol…
More late night manga work, featuring the fairground steamcoaster again!
A tiny tracing pad flipbook and a spare half hour.
I call it, ‘Astro falling off couch.’
I haven’t blogged Astro in a while, so here he is. Sitting on our couch last night, waiting for an opening to steal food from us as we eat dinner. Or silently contemplating, “hmm, what precious household item should I poop on next?”
I’m exhibiting original art from Hollow Fields and my next project, The Clockwork Sky, at the big Kinokuniya bookstore in the Galleries in central Sydney. Go down there, take a look and sign my guestbook!
I’m going straight to the final here because I couldn’t be bothered saving the colour flats. But I dropped a reddish-purple into the background layer and painted the colours over it so that the whole thing would have that kind of warm, dark colour scheme. Hue/Saturation allows me to tweak colours when they don’t quite look right. I start by doing separate elements on different layers, but the final pass is always dropped down to one layer to blend the colours better.
Oh, and I changed the apple on the warrior’s hook hand to a sprinkly donut, but I think it’s too small to make out? Wasted effort…!
